Tawau: Committee members of the local authority (PBT) in the state are required to be prudent in its financial management, and to proceed with development projects that can benefit the community only.
The state Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Tawfiq Abu bakar Titingan said, with the current economy, PBT must be wise in handling their finances.
“Make sure the expenditures planned for this year are evaluated and prioritize developments that are needed and suspend other matters,” he said in his speech for the Swearing-in and Delivery of Letter of Appointment Ceremony, for the Committee Members of Tawau District Council 2015-2016, here today.
About 24 committee members of Tawau District Council for the 2015-2016 session received their letter of appointment which is presented by MPT President, Datuk Ismail Mayakub, with 10 new faces from the professional group, politicians, and non-government organization (NGO).
Tawfiq who is also the State Assemblyman (ADUN) of Apas said, PBT are urged to support the government in creating more opportunities to generate income in their respective districts.
“Committee members have to avoid unnecessary outflow and wastage, and are obligated to do their job responsibly, and never assume their position as a privilege that can be boasted and misused,” he said.
Committee members also need to improve their ability and administration to remain relevant by acquiring knowledge and be aware with environmental issues to complement their excellence-based working culture. – SayangSabah
