KOTA KINABALU:Thirty illegal immigrants (PATI) were detained in an Integrated Operation in three construction areas around Kota Kinabalu city today.
Kota Kinabalu City Police chief ACP M. Chandra said they were part of the 92 individuals who were checked in a six-hour operation beginning at 8.30am and participated by six enforcement agencies including the police, Immigration Department and National Registration Department.
“All the illegal immigrants were between the ages of 20 and 51 and were detained under Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act,” said Chandra in a statement, here today.
He said that in the operation, five other individuals aged between 20 and 35 were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Chandra said all the PATI and suspects for the drug offences were now being detained at the central lock-up in Kepayan.
Meanwhile, Chandra said the operation would be continued from time to time to check the PATI problems in the city.- BERNAMA
