KUALA TERENGGANU: A father who is also a Petronas staff in Melaka was willing to take leave from work just to send his daughter for her first day of school today.
Mohd Khairi Alias, 31, said he was excited to see his first born entering school for the first time.
“It’s hard to describe my feelings because before this I just saw other parents sent off their children, but today I can experience it myself,” he told Bernama when approached at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pusat Kuala Ibai, near here.
Mohd Khairi said despite living far away from his daughter, he still made some time to buy school supplies with her.
A housewife, Roziana Bakar, 38, said although today was not the first time she sent off her children to school, but she was still excited to do so with her second child.
“I was a little relieved because my son was not acting up today, maybe because he had undergone orientation session before. He woke up at 6.30am and was excited to put on his brand new school uniforms,” Roziana said.
The 2016 schooling session in Terengganu and three other states, namely Kedah, Kelantan and Johor started today.
A total of 18,535 Year One pupils registered in 351 primary schools across Terengganu. – BERNAMA
