KUALA LUMPUR: Paralympic sprinter Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi was today conferred the ‘Kesatria Terbilang’ Award by Umno Youth for
his inspiring and outstanding performance in sports.
The award was handed over by Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin before the opening of the wing’s annual assembly here today.
Met by Bernama on the sideline of the assembly, the 28-year-old Mohamad Ridzuan, who is down with cerebral palsy, speaking through an interpreter, said the award would serve as a confidence booster for him to pursue greater success.
“This award is a boost to my spirit. I am excited and it will be an inspiration for my preparation to the Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil in
September next year,” he said.
Since his participation in various international tournament in 2011, Mohamad Ridzuan had collected six gold and three silver medals.
He had also recently set a new record for men’s 100m T36 (cerebral palsy) at the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore by breaking the previous record held by the late Malaysian Mohamad Azlan Mat Lazim- BERNAMA
