LABUAN: The objective of the twelve-day Paradise Exercise from 9 November ago has been achieved thanks to the commitment of everyone involved, especially by its participants, said the TUDM Air Operation Commander, Lt. Gen. Dato’ Sri Ackbal bin Hj Abdul Samad, during the closing ceremony for the exercise event at Labuan Air Base, this morning.
“The programme is a combination of several exercises by TUDM which in the past held separately,” he said. “It is a platform to test TUDM’s capability and preparation in defending the nation’s air space.”
AS part of the initiative to improve TUDM, he said the government has relocated a fighter squadron to Labuan base and set up a new TUDM air operation centre in Tawau, with another facility planned for Sandakan.
Among the activities carried out throughout the programme includes air to ground missile launching exercise, air to air refuelling, force down produce, Heli operation, and special operation troop insertion. –SayangSabah
