NABAWAN: The long overdue Kaamatan and Tamu Besar Festival (Panawari) which was once an annual event for Pensiangan district in the 60s, will once again makes its return this year.
The District Office, Fredian Gan, said the organizing of the event is one of the approach to improve unity and understanding among the community in the district, where it will be officiated by the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, this 23 May.
“The two-in-one celebration will be held for three days, beginning from 21 May to 23 may with many activities,” he said to the media after chairing the preparation meeting for the festival.
According to him, among the activities planned for the event are community sports, traditional house display from every sub-districts, traditional cuisines, folk song performance, traditional heritage shows, exhibition and competition for agriculture products, government agencies and departments exhibition, Murut storytelling contest, “Legends’ Night, Unduk Ngadau, and Sugandoi.
Fredian said, in conjunction with the upcoming visit, the Chief Minister will also visit the construction site for the new Nabawan Health Clinic, officiate the Nabawan Works Department (JKR) Complex, and presenting communal grants in four sub-districts. – SayangSabah
