BELURAN: The organising of the ‘Padau Race’ or boat race will add to the cultural tourism potential in the district of Beluran to further boost its development and improve the socio-economy of its people.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the state government always welcomed and fully supported any initiatives taken by various parties to uphold the heritage of tribes and ethnic groups in the state.
He said holding the Padau Race was very beneficial and suitable to maintain the tribal culture of the Tidong ethnic group, particularly in Beluran.
“I believe the Padau Race can be promoted more effectively to attract tourists and visitors to this district,” he said during the Padau Race (amapalud De Padau) launch here today.
His speech was read by state Rural Development Minister Datuk Radin Malleh. Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and state Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Michael Asang were also present during the event.- BERNAMA
