The Food Fest from Apr 19 to 12.

The food fest dubbed Kota Kinabalu Food Festival 2015 (KKFF 2015) will be East Malaysia’s greatest food festival this year showcasing an array of food at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall.

General Manager of Ministry of Events and KKFF 2015 organiser, Doris Thian said there would be variety of Kadazan traditional foods such as Hinava, Tuhau, Pinasakan, Bambangan, Noonsom, Bosou and many others.

She said they have given young entrepreneurs the opportunity to open their own Kadazan traditional food booths on Ground Floor during the festival.

“We have invited youngster to showcase their Kadazan traditional food to support them in their business as well to promote their food,” she added.

According to her, KKFF 2015 also hopes to promote Sabah cuisines to guests attend the food festival.

Representative from Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Lee Mei Tchuin said the Sago grubs will be the biggest highlights of the Kadazan food display.

“There will be Sago grubs cooked in different ways such as grilled, steamed and fried or you can simply eat it raw just like that,” she said.

She added that Sago worm is her favorite foods. Doris said they will also be exhibiting products of food manufacturers, gourmet appliances, bazaar food and international as well as traditional cuisine from Korea, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.

She expected 3000 to 5000 people to come to the event, as in previous years. -by Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
