KOTA KINABALU – Malaysia is a multiracial society with various festivities that reflects its diversity.
Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said embracing one’s own identity while respecting other race, religion and culture is the nation’s strength.
“Our differences is a platform to appreciate and built on our strength,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters at the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Chinese New Year Open House at Airport View Hotel, Here today.
Ongkili who is also the PBS deputy president stated that the government sponsors open houses for different festivities with the intention to promote unity, toleration, peace and harmony among the people.
“The people need to help the government because we cannot solely depend on policies. They (rakyat) need to work together with the government to repudiate extremists,” he said.
He stated that schismatic extremists should be eliminated.
“We can at least politically eliminate those who are extremist…who are not moderate; In this respect, Malaysia will achieve Vision 2020,” he said. – By Fizah Yusof/SayangSabah
