KENINGAU: Police have arrested one man and women under suspicion of being involved with gambling activities using ‘online tablet’ at a business premise at Kg. Senagang, near here, at about 2.15pm, yesterday.
District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Douglas Nyeging Taong, said a raid operation was carried out by police personnel based on public information, leading to the arrest of the suspects at the premise.
“In the operation, police have seized several equipments and cash, believed to have been used for the gambling activity, including three tablets, mobile phone, phone charger, two exercise books, calculator, two pens, and a wallet containing RM150 cash.
“Further investigation will be carried out on the suspects to identify the mastermind who set up the (gambling) activity,” he said.
He also calls for continuous cooperation from the public to channel information to curb illegal gambling.
Both suspects are investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which carries the punishment of a fine up to RM10,000 and a maximum RM100,000 for each gambling machine seized, and five years jail, if found guilty. – SayangSabah
