JOHOR BAHARU: A lorry attendant was killed and three other people were seriously injured in an accident involving a container lorry and an express bus at KM119.5 of the North-South Expressway (Yong Peng bound), near Batu Pahat today.
Batu Pahat District Police Chief ACP Din Ahmad identified the lorry attendant as Muhammad Akid Luqman Zulkifli, 19, from Taman Sri Pinang, Klang.
The seriously injured included the lorry driver, Koh Guan Siong, 39. The other two are another lorry attendant and the bus driver, whose identity had yet to be ascertained, he said when contacted here today.
He said three passengers in the bus were slightly injured in the 5.20 am incident, while two others escaped unscathed.
“Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred when the lorry, which was coming from Yong Peng, skidded to the left before hitting the road divider and overturned in the middle of the road and was hit by the bus.
“The impact caused one of the lorry attendants to be thrown out of the vehicle and died on the spot,” he added.
Din said the injured lorry driver was sent to the Sultanah Fatimah Hospital, Muar, for treatment, while the others to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital.- BERNAMA
