KOTA KINABALU- Oil and gas industry players need to be more innovative by following all the latest progress related to the industry to attract more large investment to this state said Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj. Aman.
Musa who is Sabah Chief Minister said it includes taking the opportunities in the downstream and mid sector in the oil and as an industry within the state.
He said there are few suggestions on the building of the second Ammonia Urea (SAMUR) plant in Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).
“In the future, Sabah will be involved in lots of downstream activities if PERTONAS managed to produce more natural gas,”he said in the opening speech of 5th Sabah Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (SOGCE), here today.
The text was delivered by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister cum the Minister of Industrial Development of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah.
Apart from that, Musa said he is confident on the capability of oil and gas in this state to get through all the challenges including the price increase of world oil.
“World oil prices increased because of the high and consistent demand.
“I am confident that the companies of oil and gas industry, especially in Sabah will be abe to face all the challenges and will be strengthened from time to time,”he said.
Meanwhile, he said the organizing of SOGCE will be able to help local industry players in seeking more opportunities,ideas and strategiesas well as to gain infromation relevant to venturing into oil and gas businesses in Malaysia and the world.
“SOGCE is a platform that could increase collaboration and share for mutual benefits in the industry apart from exchanging opinions and seeking for solutions to the problem eoncountered by each other businesses,”he said.
Besides that, Organizing Chairlady, Dolly Jimayol said more than 20 local as well as external panels and speakers participate the two days conference starting today until tomorrow.
Among them was Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management, Muhammad Zamri Jusoh, Petronas Holdings Bhd, General Manager of Sabah Shell Malaysia, Ian Lim, General Manager of Sabah Assets, Murphy Sabah Oil Co. Ltd., Managing Director, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd., Datuk Azman Ismail.
