KUALA LUMPUR: Nurul Izzah Anwar today told the High Court here that she did not carry out any further investigations to verify the validity of statements made by Mohd Rafizi Ramli regarding the purchase of eight
units of properties at KL Eco City in Bangsar by NFCorp executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail.
The Lembah Pantai MP said further investigations were not conducted as she believed what was stated by Mohd Rafizi at the media conference on March 7 2012 was correct.
“I trust Mohd Rafizi and did not have any doubts on the statement. I depended on Mohd Rafizi who is PKR’s strategic director and he had done his research before issuing any statements,” she said.
Nurul Izzah who is PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat ) vice-president said Mohd Rafizi also exposed the purchase of a One Menerung condominium unit using National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp) funds which was true.
Nurul Izzah said this when questioned by counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, who represented Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail in the suit filed by the NFCorp executive chairman against her and then PKR secretary-general, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Meanwhile, Nurul Izzah also denied her statement on the purchase of eight units of properties at KL Eco City had brought her political mileage.
“The statements were made based on my responsibility to the residents of Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency,” she said.
Nurul Izzah, who was represented by Joshua Kevin, was recalled to give her statement after the same court on Feb 4 allowed Mohamad Salleh to amend his reply on the defence statements of Nurul Izzah and Saifuddin in the suit.
Apart from Nurul Izzah, Mohamad Salleh was also recalled to give his statement in the case on Aug 6.
On Dec 24 2013, Mohamad Salleh and his company, NFCorp filed a suit against Nurul Izzah for allegedly making statements relating to an expose by Mohd Rafizi who accused Mohamad Salleh of buying eight units of properties in KL Eco City using funds provided for NFCorp.
Nurul Izzah’s statements were aired by Malaysiakini TV on March 7 2012. In his statement of claim, Mohamad Salleh said the remarks by Nurul Izzah alluded that he and his family abused NFCorp funds to buy properties for
