PONTIAN: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has reminded the people that no country could achieve progress if they were at rift and not united.
As such, he said, the people of Johor should remain united so that Johor could progress into a developed and peaceful state.
“When we look at the people around us as family, feelings of envy and jealousy can be kept at bay, and feelings of affection and mutual respect can be nurtured instead. Therefore, I call upon all the people, despite their differences in religion and beliefs, they should live as one, and work together to ensure the state’s prosperity,” he said.
He was speaking at a dinner to celebrate the Chap Goh Meh festival at the Pontian Mini Stadium here tonight.
The event was attended by about 3,000 guests, including Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and State Secretary Datuk Ismail Karim.- BERNAMA
