SUBANG JAYA:-  PROTON Holdings Berhad (PROTON) had expressed concern about photographs of a Proton Exora bursting into flame being circulated on various social media.

In a statement released today, it stated that it referred to several photographs that are being circulated on various social media of a Proton Exora bursting into flames at the Cheneh exit along the East-Coast Highway Phase 2 (LPT2) on Feb 17.

“In posting the picture, some of the netizens have claimed that the Exora was faulty due to an increase in temperature as a result of over-filling of fuel and subsequently causing the car to catch fire, while others speculated that the incident was due to a leaking fuel tank,” the press release by Ahmad Farizal Hajat, the Assistant Manager, Media, Editorial & Content Management Group Communications, stated.

“PROTON Holdings Berhad (PROTON) would like to reiterate that the company does not compromise on any quality issues that will cause malfunction to our engines or cars. Proton Exora is the first national Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) with more than 140,000 units sold worldwide.”

The press statement issued by PROTON also stated that they are very concerned about this situation and are investigating this matter closely. PROTON has also gotten in touch with the owner of the vehicle to ensure the well-being of the owner and his family and to get the full details about the Exora.

“To this end, as part of our priority to our customers’ safety and performance of their vehicle, we are taking the necessary measures and would like to urge the public not to speculate on the situation.”- Sayangsabah
