TAWAU: Beginning tomorrow (15 January 2016), those who are buying Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanks, including the community in Pulau Sebatik are required to show identification document.
Tawau KPDNKK Chief, Peter J. Berinus Agang, said the matter was announced by the ministry’s Secretary Chief in 7 November 2015.
He said business owners in Tawau (including Pulau Sebatik) are prohibited from selling LPG tanks except to Malaysians showing their Mykad upon purchase.
The regulation is also compulsory for permanent/temporary residents and foreign workers, where they are obligated to show their permit in order to buy the necessity.
UNHCR refugees with UNHCR cards and individuals with permission from supply officers are also permitted to buy LPG tanks by adhering to the new regulation.
The new regulation is made for record purpose and part of the initiative by KPDNKK to curb the smuggling and misappropriation of subsidized LPG products. -SayangSabah
