KOTA KINABALU – New Sabah School Sports Council records were made on ten-pin bowling and aquatic, today. The tournament had organised games on badminton, aquatic and ten-pin bowling. It was held in Likas Sports Complex multipurpose hall from Feb 10 to 12.
Five athletes had made a new record on aquatic competition. Two new records on female under 12 are now held by Yipp Chi Tong for 100 meter (m) backstroke and Lovell Wong Hsio Thang for 50 m breastroke. Both of them broke the 2014 record, Yip had broken record 1 minute 18 second 11 millisecond with her 1.16.65 record while Lovell gained 38 m 87 s which beat 39 m 18s.
Meanwhile, 200 m freestyle aquatic records below 15 new records are now held by Wong Venn Chien for male category and Cheng Ka Man for female category. Wong had scored 2.06.24 compared to 2.07.66 in 2013 and Cheng gained 29.01 which beat the 2010 record, 29.02.
Joey Lo Jun Yi had won the new record on 200 m breaststroke with the score of 2.39.05 than 2.40.99 in year 2012.
Navern Netaneel Marcellinus got a perfect score of 300 in ten-pin bowling.
State Education Department Human Resources Development Sector Head, Datu Jamigul Datu Salin said that it was the best achievement made in this year.
Kota Kinabalu District Education Officer, Bad Hamid Musli said that there were 464 student athletes who were involved in the tournament and 200 escort team which were among teachers, officers and coaches.
The six divisions that participated in the championship were the South East, Sandakan, North Interiors, South and West Coast. West Coast division had become the overall champion. – By Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
