KENINGAU: An indoor futsal court will be built at Keningau Sports Complex as an additional facility for encouraging the local community to practice a healthy lifestyle through sports.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin, said the approval was given following the requests of youths who want to have the court to be available in the district.
He said it is in line with the effort of the Youth and Sports Ministry to promote healthy lifestyle programmes to the public in all level and to increase people’s participations in sports as a method to maintain their health.
The approach to celebrate Fit Malaysia, he explained, is to find talented athletes and makes Malaysia a sports-based nation, as well as to produce a healthy society through sports.
Khairy was speaking during opening the Mr. Borneo Competition held at the district Community Hall, in Saturday.
Previously, he officiated the state level 2015 Takraw Tournament for Presidential Cup (ASTAKA) in Tenom, and announced the RM200,000 allocation for ASTAKA. –SayangSabah
