
SIPITANG –The Sekolah Kebangsaan Lubok Darat here is now equipped with a new multipurpose hall.
With the new facilities the 60- strong students and their teachers will be able to hold various education based activities and be on part with other similar schools in the State.
The 1,040 square feet hall, can accommodate up to 100 people and will ensure that students can hold their extra co-curricular activities in comfort.
This facility is an initiative by courtesy PETRONAS as part of their Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme dubbed ‘Program Sentuhan Ilmu PETRONAS (PSIP)’.
The objective of this project is assist less fortunate students from rural areas with a strong foundation for them to excel in their future academic journey.
There are a total of 13 schools in Sabah under the PSIP initiative.
PETRONAS also presented back-to-school essentials comprising school uniforms and exercise books to all primary three pupils, nurtured under the PSIP since year two.

“This is a part of our commitment to contribute to the well-being of the communities. Before this the school premise only consisted of a building which has six classrooms and a staff room for 12 teachers,” said Julita Ontol, General Manager of PETRONAS Sabah and Labuan Regional.
She said the new multi-purpose hall will facilitate a better learning experience for the students.
“With the construction of this multi-purpose hall, students will now have more conducive environment for co-curricular activities.”
The amenity will also be useful to some 300 villagers in the vicinity for their community activities.
Also present during the event were PETRONAS Upstream Business’ General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Administration Lita Osman; representatives from Kimanis District Education Department; members of the People Development Leader Unit (UPPM), members of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and PETRONAS staff. – SayangSabah
