KOTA KINABALU: A tourist family of four was involved in an accident when their driver crashed their MPV vehicle near Telipok due to negligence, here today.
The accident happened at 3.50pm, injuring a family of Australian tourists aged 15 to 47 years old, as well as the 44 years old driver.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said the driver was seriously injured, with fracture on his leg, while the male tourist aged 47 years old, receive heavy injury on his shoulder.
“The other male and female tourist aged 15 and 39 years old, however, only received minor injuries,” he said in his statement, here today.
He said the initial investigation by the police found the Toyota Avanza which was heading from Kiulu to Kota Kinabalu loses its control before it crashed into a cliff at Kg. Kebayau, Telipok.
“All of the tourists had been sent to Tuaran Hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment, while the driver was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2,” he said.
Based on information, the driver is a friend of the tourist family.
The case is investigated under Section 43 (1) Road Transportation Act 1987. – SayangSabah
