KOTA KINABALU: Thirty two Filipinos including children suspected to be illegal immigrants were inspected in Ops Nyah Sabah, launched in Likas and Inanam areas, on Sunday.
10 illegal immigrants were then detained and sent to Centralized Lockup for not having a proper travel documents, in accordance with Section 6(1)(c) Immigration Act 1959.
While another four were arrested under Section 15(1)(a)Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug positive.
About 142 personnels from various enforcement agencies were involved in the operation including Immgration Department, National Registration Department, Volunteer Police, DBKK, SESB and four police officers.
Among the area covered by the operation were the squatters settlements behind Plaza Juta building, Likas, Batu 7 Inanam, and housing areas in KK Taipan.
District Police Chief, Assitant Commissioner M. Chandra, said the authority will continue its operations in due course to tackle illegal immigrants issue and squatters settlements in the district.
