SANDAKAN: The body of a Filipino crew member of a wooden vessel which was destroyed in a fire off Batu Sapi last night was found floating this evening.
The victim was identified as Susulan Abraham, 36.
Members of the public spotted the body about 6.34pm, off Kampung Cenderamata, not far from the scene where the vessel, M/L Harma was ablaze.
In a statement today, Sabah Fire and Rescue Department liaison officer Mohd Affendy K. Ramin said during the blaze, Abraham was reported missing while five crew members were injured and five others managed to escape.
He said M/L Harma had just transferred petrol at a jetty to be sent to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi in southern Philippines about 3pm when there was an explosion.
The vessel which was ablaze was released before the fire spread to two other wooden vessels.- BERNAMA
