Messages of condolences on the passing of Nik Aziz

KUALA LUMPUR: The twitter social websites were flooded with messages of condolences from political leaders on the loss of former Kelantan menteri besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat who died at his residence in Pulau Melaka in Kota Baharu, Thursday night.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also the Home Minister, conveyed his condolences to family members of the late Nik Abdul Aziz on the passing of the PAS spiritual leader.

“May his soul be placed among the blessed,” he said. Umno Youth chief who is also the Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaludin expressed his condolences via his posting on his twitter website and wished that his soul be placed among those blessed by Allah SWT.

Leaders of the component parties of the Barisan Nasional (BN) also expressed their condolences with MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai writing “My condolences to the family of YB Tn Guru Dato Nik Aziz on his passing. The nation has lost a leader who was most respected.”

MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel wrote “Condolences to the family of former Kelantan MB, Datuk Nik Aziz.”

Meanwhile, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang expressed the message “Tuan Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat’s passing a great loss to nation. Deepest condolence to bereaved family. RIP.”

Selangor Menteri Besar who is also PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali stated that Nik Abdul Aziz had taught him a lot and had given much advice.

“He had taught and advised me a lot. Al-fatihah to the late Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz.”

The late Nik Abdul Aziz, 84, died at about 9.40 last night. The funeral prayers for the former menteri besar would be held at the Pulau Melaka Mosque located near his house at 10am before burial at the Pulau Melaka Muslim cemetery.- BERNAMA
