KUALA TERENGGANU: The remains of a Malaysian medical student who died last Friday in Egypt of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) arrived at the Sultan Mahmud Airport here tonight.
SLE or lupus is a chronic ‘autoimmune’ disease where a person’s antibodies react with his or her own tissues. This affects certain parts of the body such as the skin, joints, kidneys, lungs, nervous system or other organs.
The body of Nurul Izzati Izyan Roselan, 23, a final year student at the University of Cairo arrived at 9.20pm.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman was also present at the airport.
Terengganu Education, Science and Technology, and Special Duties Committee chairman Ghazali Taib said Nurul Izzati, sponsored by the Public Services Department (PSD) died at the Cardiology Care Unit (CCU) of Kasr El Aini Hospital
The Terengganu Foundation provided a hearse to transport Nurul Izzati’s body back to her home in Kampung Tasek, Bukit Payong for funeral arrangements.
Nurul Izzati will be buried tonight at the Kampung Tasek Muslim Cemetery in Marang.- BERNAMA
