KOTA KINABALU – Media fraternity plays a vital role in providing accurate and latest information especially matters concerning development to the public.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman in his speech acknowledged that the media is a medium to project and disseminate information to the public.

“None of us can deny the role that the media plays, you (media) assist the state government in ensuring the success of development policies which are all aimed at bringing growth, prosperity and target to close regional and income gaps,” he said.

His speech was delivered by Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Masidi Manjun during the Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association (KKJA) Chinese New Year luncheon at Hakka Hall, here today.

Musa expressed hope that the media would continue to uphold journalism ethics and provide balanced reporting to counter information from opposition who are constantly twisting facts for their own agendas.

He also reminded media practitioners to refrain from reporting and publishing reports that are tinged with racial and religious issues that could lead to disharmony. – By Fizah Yusof/SayangSabah
