KOTA KINABALU: Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel successfully rescued a man from committing suicide from the fourth floor of SKY Hotel Karamunsing, Kota Kinabalu, this morning.
The police was informed about the incident at 7.36am and proceed to notify the fire department and ambulance to rush to the scene.
Upon their arrival, the firefighter team carried out rescue operation to save the man who was sitting at the edge of the fourth floor level; the parking lot area of the hotel. The attempt failed and they were then forced to use safety rope rescue the man who was about to jump down from the building.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said the 43-year-old suspect a Filipino was facing family issues and suffered from depression.
“The suspect left his home in Jalan Sepanggar and has been walking alone until he decided to go up to the fourth floor of SKY Hotel to try and commit suicide,” he said.
After the suspect was rescued he was handed to the police for further action. The case was classified under Section 307 of the Penal Code. -SayangSabah
