KOTA KINABALU: A convict received eight months jail from the Magistrate Court after he admitted guilty of possessing a vehicle owned by another person.
Kalvin Liew Soon On, 38,confessed to the crime in 10 September last year, at Pangsapuri Melinsung Bay, Papar, at 1.40am.
He was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of up to five years jail, a fine, or both.
According to the case fact, the victim lodged a police report in 30 August last year, at 7.50pm, stating that a car belonged to his father was stolen by an unidentified suspect at Towering parking lot area, in Penampang.
The car was found at the scene in 10 September 2015, where investigation discovered several break-in equipments stored inside the vehicle.
Kalvin pleaded to the court for a lighter sentence.
However, the prosecution insisted for a heavier punishment to be given since the accused has committed other crimes.
Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie also ordered for the sentence to be carried out consecutively from the accused current punishment.
