KOTA KINABALU: A local man was sentenced to five months jail for possessing a dangerous weapon in public area.
Herman Kudang, 37, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on August 5 at 4.30pm at a convenience store near Kg. Air, a complainant had lodged a police report at the same day claiming that Herman had punched him, which lead to his arrest.
Further investigation by the police then found him possessing a 17.5-inch machete-like knife.
The accused is punished under section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substance and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for carrying dangerous weapon without a permit. The prosecution was carried out by Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie presided while Insp. Lim Swee Beng prosecuted. -SayangSabah
