Man fined for kicking wife

KOTA KINABALU: A husband was slapped with RM2,000 fine or face six months jail by the Magistrate Court today for beating his wife.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie meted out the sentence on Bixton Panandewan after he pleaded guilty for the offense.

According to the fact of case, the accused beat his wife on Aug 27, 11.13pm at AFC Transportation, Kionsom Inanam.

The incident happened when Bixton went to his wife’s workplace to take her home, of which she refused since she was still working. The accused then got angry and reacted by kicking his wife, causing her to fall and bruised her elbow.

He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of one year jail or a fine up to RM2,000, or both.

The accused who was represented by his lawyer however pleaded for the sentence to be reduced under the consideration that it is his first criminal charge, and he is also currently unemployed and have to take care of their child aged one year and six month.

Meanwhile, in another case, a man was brought to the same court today for injuring his wife.

Kubatun  Nur, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to the charge read against him.

He was charged with  intentionally causing injury to his wife at a unnumbered house in 4 November, at about 1pm at Taman Makmur Luyang.

However, the court fixed 7 Diecember for mention while waiting for the medical report to be completed.

The court also granted bail for the accused for RM3,000 with two local sureties.  Insp. Lim Swee Beng prosecuted. -SayangSabah
