Man denies charge of injuring and blackmailing wife

KOTA KINABALU: A local man pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate Court, today, to the charges of causing injury and blackmailing his wife with a spear.

For the first charge, James Joji. 50, was accused of injuring his wife at 5.00pm inside an unnumbered house, Duvanson, Putatan, in 3 January ago.

He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of up to one year jail or RM2,000 fine maximum, or both, if found guilty.

For the second charge, he allegedly blackmailed his wife by pointing a spear towards his wife after saying “I’ll stab you and kill you all”.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries the punishment of up to seven years jail, a fine, or both upon conviction.

Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun granted bail at RM2,000 with two local sureties, and set 4 March for the case mention while waiting for directives from the Vice Prosecutor regarding on the case.
