Man changed confession to not guilty for raping underaged niece

KOTA KINABALU: A local man changed his confession to not guilty at the Sessions Court, today, for two charges of raping his underaged niece.

The accused denied the first charge allegedly committed at a village in Papar, around 1.00pm to 2.00pm, in September, last year.

For the second charge, he also pleaded not guilty for the same crime committed in 23 December last year, at 9.00pm, at the same location.

For both charges he can be punished under Section 375(g) and Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, with up to 20 years jail and caning, if found guilty.

In 29 December last year at the same court, the accused admitted guilty for both crimes.

However, the accused requested to the court for him to find a suitable lawyer.

Judge Ainnul Shahrin Mohammed set 27 June to 29 June this year for the case mention and maintained the RM10,000 bail (full deposit) by one local bailor.

Representing the accused was Lawyer Goldam Hamid.
