KOTA KINABALU A local man was ordered to file his defence himself at the Sessions Court, today, for the charge of blackmailing using a machete.
Judge Indra Hj. Ayub made the decision after the prosecution proved the case prima facie against the accused at the end of the hearing, today.
The accused, Mohd Khairul Fadzly Mohd Zain, 28, with another man who is still free had blackmailed RM1,000 from a man at Kedai Runcit Man Trading, Kg. Pogunan, Penampang, around 5.00pm in 25 September 2014.
He was charged under Section 395?397 of the Penal Code which carries a punishment of up to 20 years jail and caning.
Previously the prosecution brought forward five witnesses, and Khairul chose to give his statement from the witness stand when asked.
