GEORGE TOWN: A man was seriously injured in both hands and nose after being beaten up and slashed by a group of six men at a temple in
Hong Seng Estate, here early today.
Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said in the incident around 3 am, the victim, 29, believed to be drunk, was riding a
motorcycle when he was approached and assaulted by the group.
He said several residents who were in the area intervened before five of the six men escaped on motorcycles.
“The one who was left behind fled into the nearby jungle. Police tried to track him but failed,” he said.
He added that the victim had been sent to Penang Hospital and reported to be in stable condition.
He urged the public with information relating to the incident to contact any nearby police station to help in the investigation.- BERNAMA
