KUALA LUMPUR: A man was arrested this afternoon less than 24 hours after cheating a vehicle accessories shop at a carpark in front of the
Petaling Jaya court.
Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said in the 11 am incident yesterday, the 24-year-old suspect went to the shop in Taman Puchong
Prima, Subang Jaya to install the car audio system in a four-wheel-drive-vehicle Mitsubishi Triton.
“After the installation is complete at around 7.30pm the complainant had contacted the suspect to collect the car. The suspect came to the shop, but when the complainant gave him receipts amounting to RM5,670, the suspect said he had to withdraw money at the nearby Big Aeon supermarket,” he said in a statement, here today.
Yahaya said one of the complainant’s staff had been asked to accompany the suspect but suddenly he pulled out a knife and pointed it towards the staff before fleeing on the Mitsubishi Triton.
The police managed to detect the suspect’s car at a car park building in front of the Petaling Jaya court at 12.50pm today and had ordered the driver
to stop the car for inspection.
“Inspections found a transparent plastic packet containing crystalline powder suspected to be syabu. Further inspections also revealed that the car
belonged to the suspect’s father,” he said.
Police seized the car, a mobile phone, a helmet and a knife and the man was also found to have had previous criminal records.- BERNAMA
