PUTRAJAYA,Today, Monday, 9 March 2015, Malaysia joins the Commonwealth family of nations to celebrate the Commonwealth Day, under the theme “A Young Commonwealth”.
This year’s theme is a celebration of our aspirations, particularly in recognising the capacity, contribution and potential of young people as nation builders and leaders in the future.
Given that people aged 25 or under account for the majority of the Commonwealth’s population, the theme “A Young Commonwealth” recognises the vital position of the youth in the political, economic and social spheres in their respective countries, as well as the regional and international levels.
The young people of Malaysia play a significant role in the development of the nation.
Since becoming a member in 1957, Malaysia remains committed to the goals and aspirations of the Commonwealth. Malaysia stands ready to work with the Commonwealth and its Member States in our common endeavour to provide a better future for our peoples, particularly in 2015 when the international community will define a new global development framework, the Post-2015 Development Agenda.-BERNAMA
