Malaysia and Singapore Airlines collaborations to attract tourists

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture (KPK) is about to hold a promotion with the collaboration of Singapore International Airlines (SIA) in attracting more foreign tourists to visit the state.

Its Minister, Dato Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, said Sabah is a well known tourism destination among European visitors from Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

“We all know that SIA flight services are available anywhere across the globe, and this initiative will increase the number of tourists coming to Sabah and other states,” he said.

he was speaking during a press conference for the ministry’s Engagement Session programme with Sabah Tourism Industry Developers, at Pacific Sutera Hotel, here today.

He also said there are several projects to develop the industry in Sabah through the 11th Malaysia plan under the First Rolling Plan (RP-1), which include the facility improvement at Tabin Wildlife Reserve in Lahad Datu, Burlington Kinabalu Park, Ranau, the construction of water system and sewage plant at Mount Kinabalu park area, and the construction of Edu-Tourism infrastructure at Pygmy Elephants Conservation Centre, Hilir Kinabatangan.

Also present were the state Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Vice Chief Secretary (Culture), Datuk Ab Ghaffar A. Tambi, Vice Chief Secretary (Tourism), Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah, and the Director of Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Sabah, Awang Ahamad Zaki Abu Bakar. –SayangSabah
