TAWAU: Muslims are reminded to make the studies of al-Quran as a life long journey to guide them in their daily lives.
Sabah Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, said al-Quran is not only for prayer times, but it teachings must also be studied and understood.
Tawfiq was giving his speech for officiating the Tawau USIA level for Azan and Al-Quran Recitation event at Masjid Babus Saadah, Kg. Muhibbah Raya Tawau.
Also present at the programme were Tawau USIA Chief, Salleh Sailabi, and Tawau USIA Vice Chief, Kassim Ibong.
“I hope for more programmes such as this will be held to uphold the teachings of Islam,” he added.
Tawfiq, who is also Apas State Assemblyman (ADUN), expresses his hope for USIA to attract more youths to participate in competitions based on religious values as a way to prevent them from getting involved in societal problems.
He said the involvement of the young generation in religious programmes will also teach them how to live and deal with daily challenges.
Participants from USIA Kg. Kinabutan Besar Division, Salemy bin Amat Shah, and Nurhayati Mustafa from Usia Tawau Division have won the recitation competition, while for Juaram Maidima from USIA Tg. Batu Keramat Laut Division won the Azan category. – SayangSabah
