KOTA KINABALU: A Kadazandusun man was sentenced to one month jail by the Magistrate Court, today, for failing to provide a proper identification document to the police.
Morris Mansibor, 32, who was brought before Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus, committed the offense at the open space near Taman Ridgeview Fasa 12, Luyang, around 12.10pm in 31 December last year.
Mrris was charged under Section 25 (1)(n) of the National Registration Regulation 1990 which carries the punishment of up to three years jail, or RM20,000 fine maximum.
In migitation, Morris represented by his attorney, Lindsay Micheal, applied for a lighter sentence.
She pointed that Morris lost his Mykad at the time and thus failed to show his identification document to an on-duty police personnel.
The court also ordered for Morris’ sentence to be counted from the date of his arrest.
