KOTA KINABALU: The government through the Health Ministry is committed in improving healthcare for Malaysians as to reduce the risk of disease such heart problem.
The state Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Hjh Jainab Ahmad Ayid, said the number of heart disease patients in the country is increasing every year.
“The Komuniti Sihat, Perkasa Negara (KOSPEN) is the government’s initiative to give awareness to the community to care for their health,” said Jainab during officiating the Kota Kinabalu level KOSPEN Convention 2015, this morning.
Meanwhile, the district Health Officer, Dr. Jiloris Frederic Dony, said the duty to prevent disease cannot rest solely on hospital employees since the community also need to practice a better lifestyle in order to prevent themselves from getting sick.
“KOSPEN’s activities cover five approach to prevent dangerous diseases, which is to eat healthy, be active, do not smoke, have an ideal body weight, and frequent the nearest clinic or hospital for medical examination,” he said.
The two-day convention also include activities such as a volunteerism workshop, Oral Presentation competition, dance exercise, poster contest. And Kids Lunchbox healthy menu competition. -SayangSabah
