KINARUT: In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations, WSG Group, a local developer presented 30 lions and a dragon to 15 organisations.
The beneficiaries including schools, community associations, lion dance troupes and religious bodies received the donations to celebrate the year of the Goat.
WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen presented the contribution at The Palm Condominium Kinarut Show Gallery yesterday after the traditional dragon and lions eye dotting ceremony led by Susan, her husband Wong Ten An and her mother Datin Seri Panglima Chen Si Mui.
“This is an annual event organised to maintain and support Chinese education and traditions as well as lion and dragon dance culture which we practised for many years,” said Susan who is also the immediate past president of Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association.
The recipients were Sze Yi Association West Coast, SJKC Yick Nam Inanam, Kota Kinabalu Hakka Association, Sabah Tshung Tsin Alumni Association, Papar Middle School, Persatuan Tarian Singa dan Naga Daerah Kota Kinabalu, Pertubuhan Kebudayaan dan Sukan Tiong Hua Sabah, Kelab Sukan dan Rekreasi Kg Tatahan Kiansom Inanam, Nam Tien Kong (Jiu Wang Da Di) Kota Kinabalu, Summer Dragon and Lion Dance Association, Persatuan Seng Ong Kung, Kuil Hock Teck Kong Sipitang, Persatuan Tarian Naga dan Singa Kwong Ngai Sabah and Persatuan Penganut Dewa Kuan Tee.
Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School (STTSS) principal Hiew Hoh Shing led a crew to film the event yesterday as a documentary for the Central China Normal University in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
The documentary would be aired locally in Wuhan during the Chinese New Year season to promote Sabah diverse cultures and harmony.
The crowd were entertained with spectacular dragon and lion dance performances, orchestrate rendition by STTSS students, singing and dancing as well as karaoke session.
Magic shows and a special appearance by the god of fortune to distribute chocolates and oranges wowed the children.
During this festive season, WSG Group would offering special discount of RM10,000 to the Palm Condominium buyers whilst Bumiputra would be accorded an additional five per cent discount.
