KOTA KINABALU: Landbreaking ceremony for the construction of Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) University College will be held in April.
MCA Vice President, Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong, said the ceremony will be officiated by Sabah Chief Minister, and MCA President.
“We hope that upon the completion of the college it will benefit the communities in Sabah, where they no longer need to go the Peninsular to study under the college,” he said during a press conference for the MCA Chinese New Year Open House at SMT Kota Kinabalu multipurpose hall, this morning.
He said the college construction is part of the initiatives taken by Sabah MCA to reach the people in the state.
Sabah Head of State, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Haji Juhar Haji Mahiruddin, also consented to attend the event.
Greeting the arrival of Tun Juhar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Seri Panglima Hajah Norlidah R.M Jasni, were MCA President, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, the party’s Vice President, Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong, and other MCA leaders.
Also present were Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman, and the state and federal Cabinet ministers.
The open house served Chinese New Year cuisines and held various performance including a lion dance for its more than 1,000 visitors. –SayangSabah
