KOTA KINABALU: Rukun Tetangga (KRT) can encourage the community to implement a more effective economy-based activity and strengthen the ties between their local members.
Minister in the Prime Minister Office, Tan Sri Datuk Joseph Panglima Kurup, said about 930 KRT organizations have been established in the state to help with community development.
“Community development is not only relying on the number of KRT but also requires the strength and cooperation of each of its members,” he said when launching the Kota Kinabalu Bandaraya Zone KRT Unity Carnival at Prince Phillip Park, this morning.
He said the main purpose for the carnival to be held is to promote KRT to the public who are still unaware of its roles for their community.
“I hope this programme will be a platform for creating the foundation of unity and better relationship between KRT members,” he added.
Also present at the carnival was the state Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Hajah Jainab Ahmad Ayid. –SayangSabah
