KPSKTM committed in improving Bumiputera contractors’ skills

KOTA KINABALU: About 34 skills courses and five seminars for contractors will be organized this year to improve the technical expertise among Bumiputera entrepreneurs and contractors.

Sabah Minister of Resource Development and IT, Datuk Siringan Gubat, said the programmes are part of the strategy to increase Bumiputera ownership equity to 30 percent.

“So far it (equity) has reached up to 22 percent. In carrying the ministry’s duty in producing a holistic human resource, we need to create more quality education opportunities and skills trainings,” he said in his speech for the Minister Mandate Delivery event, here today.

He added that any outdated courses can be replaced with new courses which meet today’s market requirement, besides from producing professional workers that can contribute in nation’s development.

He also urged all the agencies under his ministry to share information regarding on planned projects and activities.

As an agency that is required to interact with consumers, it is important for the employees in the ministry and its agency to think outside of the box to ensure the consumers’ satisfaction,, he added. – SayangSabah
