Kota Kinabalu Busker Festival 2015 launched

KOTA KINABALU: The launching of the Kota Kinabalu Busker Festival 2015 (KKBF 2015) has been held today at Segama Waterfront.

The programme is to recognized the busker community and their effort to entertain the locals and tourists for free.

The Mayor, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, said buskers’ presence have made the city more lively and vibrant for the city folks.

“Performances from buskers give soul to the city,” he said.

He also said busking as a platform for youth talented in music to show their abilities.

“This festival gives street musicians the opportunity to perform and show their talents to the public,” he said during the launching of KKBF 2015.

Commenting about the My Busker Corner designated around the city, he said these spots are a special area for buskers to do their performances and five more corners have been added to the list.

“DBKK’s effort to provide a specific area for buskers have received the attention from other parties, where Perdana Park and Jesselton Point also want buskers at their area,” he added.

Other activities during the event includes the performances from 12 busker groups and street artists, face-painting, caricature, and cosplay with characters such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Olaf Maskot, Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, Star Wars, and Clown. –SayangSabah
