Knowledge in Al-Quran deflects deviative teachings – Musa

KOTA KINABALU: Unity among the people is crucial in deflecting any attempts from certain quarters who try to disseminate the wrong teachings and theories of Islam in the country.

In this matter, the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, stressed that without unity an dunderstanding, the country and its people will be exposed to internal and external threats.

“Based on today’s development, these threats are worrying us (Muslims), especially the attempts on deviating the true teachings of Islam.

“This is because of the lack of understanding on Islam as it is written in Al-Quran,” he said in his speech for the state level Tilawah Al-Quran Awards Presentation at Dewan Seri Sulaman, here tonight.

Musa said, Al-Quran is the sole reference source for nation-building, where it is complete with knowledge and teachings for Islamic development.

In this regard, he said, it is important for Muslims to learn and appreciate the teachings of Al-Quran.

“I am confident that through their understanding and obedience on the teachings and commandments in Al-Quran, it will enable the Muslims to know the value of unity in upholding religion, and preserving the wellbeing of the country,” he said.

The state government will also step up its efforts in upholding Islam in Sabah by developing the mosque, religious school, and tahfiz institution, he said.

In syariah aspect, the state and federal government has been collaborating in building the Sabah Syariah Court Complex as a sign of their commitment in upholding syariah judiciary in the state.

“We in Sabah is grateful to Allah SWT for His blessing in political stability, economic prosperity, social harmony, and unity among the people. These are thanks to the government’s continuous efforts and commitments, as well as through the support and cooperation of the public, and their understanding of the true Islamic teachings based on Al-Quran.

“The success in life and afterlife will not be achieved as long as we do not learn and appreciate the true Islamic teachings and values. As a Muslims, we are the role model to other communities from different faiths, as we live according to Al-Quran and Rasulullah SAW teachings,” he added. – SayangSabah
