ALOR SETAR: Police have found the knife believed to be used by a woman to butcher her baby girl into eight pieces at a house in Kampung Manggol, Jitra.
Kubang Pasu district police chief, Supt Abdul Rahim Abdullah said a 20cm vegetable knife was found in a white polystrene container in the bathroom of the house at 6.15pm, yesterday.
He said the suspect, who was discharged from Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here, had led police to the scene and showed them the weapon she used.
“Police have seized the knife,” he said in a statement, here, today.
He said the suspect, who is still single, was freed on police bail yesterday evening while waiting for the baby’s DNA report.
Abdul Rahim said the completed investigation report would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for charging at the Jitra court under Section 318 of the Penal Code.
If found guilty, the suspect is liable to be jailed for up to two years or fined, or both.
On July 7, a 31-year-old woman was detained following the discovery of several body parts of a newborn baby in the tank of the toilet at her grandfather’s house.- BERNAMA
