KOTA KINABALU: Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, welcomes the delegation from Portland to invest and set up new businesses in the state.
Abidin said the arrival of US Ambassador, Joseph Yun, and the Portland delegates into the state is due to the bilateral relation between Portland and Kota Kinabalu, which was created in 29 September 2014, in Portland, Oregon.
“Here I want to thank the former Portland-Kota Kinabalu Association President, Ellen Schmidt –Devlin, for his his effort in creating a friendship between Portland and Kota Kinabalu,” he said when speaking at the luncheon event with US Ambassador and Portland delegates at Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Hotel, here.
Joseph said they selected Sabah as a diplomatic partner based on the many similarities between the state and Oregon.
“Among these similarities are the aspect of community hospitality for visitors.
“The development level in Sabah is also on par with Oregon development progress,” Joseph added.
Also present at the event were Metro City President, Oregon, Tom Hughes, Sabah Oregon Cooperation President cum the President of Susanne Hashim Development Consulting, Susanne Hashim, DBKK General Director, Datuk Yeo Boon Hai, and the delegation from US Consulate and Portland, Oregon. –SayangSabah
