KOTA KINABALU: Constable Zakia Aleip who was abducted in Mabul Island, Semporna last year has been rescued by the security forces in Indanan, Sulu, Phillippine, yesterday.
Zakia, who arrived in Sandakan at 7.30am this morning was brought out from Indanan around 11.00pm on 6 March by national security force who went to Sulu for rescue operation around 2.30pm, yesterday.
Regarding on the rescue operation, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, said the state government is relieved with Zakia’s return to the country after being held by the southern Phillippine militant group.
“Praise Allah SWT for the continuous effort by the government through negotiation, prayers by the people and the patience of the family members; he (Zakia) has been rescued.
“I want to show my appreciation and thanks for our security forces which have done their best to rescue Constable Zakia Alip. I have also contacted The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd. Najib Tun Razak, just now.
“He is happy with the news and expresses his thanks to the security forces for rescuing Zakia,” he told reporters at his residence in Sri Libaran, Sandakan.
Musa, who is also the ESSCOM and State Security Chairman wants the security forces to be prepared at all times in any situations.
He said, this is to ensure the safety and peace of the state and the public are safeguarded from any security threats, especially from the nation’s waters. – SayangSabah
