Assistant Minister for the Chief Ministewr, Datuk Ir. Edward Yong Oui Fah, said the contest is one of the effort to improve and the environment condition of villages in Gaya Island.
‘I hope that DBKK will also hold similar programmes for villages around the state capital since the district is a tourist hotspot,” he said in his speech during the prize presentation ceremony for the event at DBKK Building, this evening.
He also said the state government allocates RM1 million annually for beach cleaning activities in the state capital area, and the cost will increase if there is no cooperation from all parties.
“Actions of certain individuals who throw rubbishes straight into the sea is immoral and this should be handled by everyone,” he added.
