KOTA KINABALU: The 96 homebuyers of Kepayan Apartment has finally got their strata titles after waited for 10 years after the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA) has successfully located its developer-China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), a China-based company who had left the state after completing the project here.
CCECC who had an office in Kuala Lumpur came back here to resolve the matter after they saw an advertisements placed in several newspapers by SHAREDA in November last year.
And yesterday, both its Malaysia-based office directors Chay Ng and Lee Goan Yin together with some of the company representatives met at the State Lands and Surveys Department where its deputy director (development) Yusrie Abdullah informed CCECC who is the master title holder to pay the dues of RM14,400 before the draft of the strata titles which has been ready since August 1, 2012 could be released.
SHEREDA president Datuk Francis Goh said the association has sponsored some RM14,000 as part of their corporate social responsibility to put advertisements in the newspapers to look for the developer.
And to avoid a similar incident from recurring in future especially for projects carried out by outsiders, Francis urged the developers to set up a proper office in Sabah because they have a responsibility to serve their buyers until the strata titles are issued.-Sayangsabah
